Vitae Mimic
is a homebrew player race for D&D 5th Edition built around identity horror.

You play a creature that consumes other beings and becomes them. Not an illusion. Not a disguise. A total biological replacement, memories and all. You don't know what you are. Nobody at the table does. And when you find out, everything changes.

Features:

  • Two-phase progression (instinctive consumption to conscious identity)
  • The False Hydra Veil: a localized reality distortion that rewrites everyone's memory when you shift forms
  • Shape Slots, Sub Sheets, and a full Consumption Challenge system
  • Vestigial Crests: permanent physical marks from the identities you absorb
  • Party Symbiosis mechanics so the whole table benefits
  • Full DM guidance for balance, detection, and roleplay

Designed for long-form campaigns. Works especially well in horror settings like Curse of Strahd.
